Appliance Problem FAQ and Solutions
Q1: My refrigerator isn’t cooling properly. What should I do?
A1: First, check if the temperature setting is correct. Ensure that the fridge isn’t overloaded, as this can block air circulation. Clean the condenser coils at the back or bottom of the fridge, as dust buildup can affect cooling. If the problem persists, it may be a faulty thermostat or compressor, requiring professional assistance.
Q2: Why won’t my washing machine drain?
A2: A common cause is a clogged drain hose or filter. Check and clean the filter located at the front lower end of the machine. Also, inspect the drain hose for blockages. If these are clear and the issue continues, the pump might be malfunctioning.
Q3: My oven isn’t heating up. What could be wrong?
A3: If you have an electric oven, check the heating elements for damage or disconnection. In a gas oven, ensure the igniter and gas line are functioning correctly. If these components seem intact, the issue might be with the thermostat or control board.
Q4: My dishwasher is not cleaning dishes properly. What should I do?
A4: Make sure the spray arms are not clogged and can rotate freely. Use the right detergent and check if the water temperature is hot enough (at least 120°F). Clean the dishwasher filter and check for any hard water deposits or grease. If these steps don’t work, the issue could be with the water pump or jets.
Q5: Why is my dryer taking too long to dry clothes?
A5: Frequently, this is due to a clogged lint filter or vent hose. Clean the lint filter after every load and regularly inspect the vent hose. Ensure that the dryer is not overloaded. If these don’t resolve the issue, the heating element or sensors may be faulty.
Q6: My electric stove’s burner isn’t heating up. What’s the problem?
A6: Check if the burner is properly plugged in or if it has any visible damage. If it seems intact, try swapping it with another burner to see if the problem is with the burner itself or the connection. If another burner doesn’t work in the same slot, the issue may be with the stove’s wiring or control.
Q7: My freezer is over-freezing. What should I check?
A7: First, verify the temperature setting. If it’s set too low, adjust it accordingly. Check the door seals for any gaps or damage that could let in warm air, causing frost buildup. If the issue continues, it could be a problem with the defrost timer or thermostat.
Q8: There’s a strange noise coming from my appliance. What does this mean?
A8: Unusual noises can indicate various issues depending on the appliance. For instance, a buzzing refrigerator could have a compressor issue, while a banging washing machine might have unbalanced loads. Isolate the noise source and consult your appliance manual or a professional for specific advice.

Washing machine broke down on Sunday so I emailed Stefan. He replied same day and arrived at 10.00 on Monday. The washing machine fixed within the hour (new brushes) and price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.
Mr. Stephen came to my wife’s rescue when our washing machine door would not open no matter what we did, he came and released the door so we could get the washing out and ordered a new lock. He took the door away and came back in two days as agreed at a time that suited us as we both worked. Kept to his word regarding price. I would recommend Mr. Stephen without hesitation.

I would recommend this company every time. Quick and efficient with good end result. I have also passed on their details to other people!
